“Stale bedding” is a technique that involves establishing and irrigating a seed bed early in the season so weed seed will germinate ahead of plant seeding, allowing for easier destruction of weeds before the crop begins growing. This practice has become more popular in recent years.

Massano has developed a “rolling weeder” specifically to eliminate these “pre-germed” weeds before seeding the crop. The FSL Stale Bed Weeder was grower designed and has been proven to reduce weed density by up to 67%.

Sturdy tines and expanded metal rollers stir-up the very top of the bed killing germinated weeds, while leaving deeper weed seed undisturbed.

Simple hand crank adjustments make depth control easy and adaptable to practically any soil type.

In trial after trial, the FSL Stale Bed Weeder has demonstrated a great reduction in quick germinating weeds, allowing the planted or transplanted crop to get off to a good start.
