The Zon Mk 2 has a "U" shaped stand instead of 2 separate leg pieces like the Mk 4 cannon.

ZON BATTERY OPERATED TIMER
Zon Battery Operated Timer
Introduced in 2001
Introduced in 2001, the Zon GT300 battery-operated timer relieves the chore of manually turning gas to the cannon on and off each day.
Replaced the heavier, more cumbersome and expensive wind-up Zon timer.
Zon Battery Operated Timer parts are readily available.
- Battery-operated (no winding)
- One AA battery powers the timer for an entire season
- Automatically starts and stops operation of the propane cannon each day at your specified time (min 10 hours, max 18 hours)
- Lightweight, weighs about 13 ounces
- Can be used with cannon on stand or rotating tripod
- Enclosed in weather tight plastic box
ZON WIND-UP TIMER
Zon Wind-up Timer 8001
Discontinued in 2001
Introduced in 1989 as a lighter-weight and more versatile replacement for the obsolete Horstmann timer, the Zon 8001 wind-up timer was replaced by the lightweight, less expensive battery operated timer in 2001.
Limited Zon 8001 Wind-up Timer parts are available.
- Wind-up timer; requires winding about once per week.
- Automatically starts and stops operation of the propane cannon each day at your specified time (minimum 10 hours, maximum 18 hours)
- Heavy-ish, weighs over 3 lbs.
- Can be used with cannon on stand or rotating tripod.
- Enclosed in weather tight, sturdy metal housing.
HORSTMANN TIMER
Horstmann Timer
Discontinued in 1989
Horstmann timer parts are NOT available.
The heavy, obsolete Horstmann 3A/UNI/43A wind-up timer was replaced by the lighter-weight, more versatile Zon 8001 timer in 1989.
- Wind-up timer; required winding about once per week
- Was capable of setting 1 or 2 on/off periods per day
- Heavy, weighed over 5 lbs
- Due to its weight and bulk, could be used only with cannon on stand
- Enclosed in water tight metal housing with glass window
